Like most other earth beings we here at Girl Loves Distortion like to spend the holiday month with friends and family. Roasting chestnuts and playing acoustic guitars. Speaking of acoustic guitars, did you hear that new how many guitar players does it take joke? Ok, then we'll save it for another time. But seriously, go check out Jackie & The Treehorns live debut at DC9 on December 6th. It can hold you over on your GLD fix till some time after the near year.

As always the summer months bring more shows, more music, and more of the DC humidity. First, the shows: Busy, busy month starting off with a show at Fort Reno on Thursday, July 16th. We play second of three along with Godisheus and Laughing Man. If you are a local DC area dweller and you have yet to attend a show at Fort Reno...shame on you. Just shame on you!.

Ohio here we come. Toledo and Cleveland will be getting a visit in early April from Girl Loves Distortion. We're excited to be playing on the road on this mini-weekend-warrior-tour-in-the-element. Should be quite the adventure. We're also gearing up to shoot another video in May for our upcoming release, You Better Run, Your Highness. Besides that, right now we are just doing our best to get the new release out asap, booking summer gigs, and living the life. Stay tuned for possible new live video clips from the Ohio shows on our video page.

It seems like each month we post here we tell you how close we are to finishing up our next release, what shows are coming up, and other random, repetitive, ramblings. Well, let's get that out of the way right off the bat this time: our next show is Sunday, March 15th at the Galaxy Hut in Arlington, VA. We are really looking forward to this show for many reasons. First, we get to play with one of our favorite local bands and friends Small Doses. Second, since this is a rare two band bill we might actually get tot play longer than 30 minutes. You see, once you have been a band for 3+ years, have one release out, and one on the way, it's sometimes hard to cut down a set list from 20 potential songs to only eight. So on this night we will be able to play for as long as we want. Now don't worry, were not going to go all E Street Band on you and play a two hour set. But do plan to hear a bunch of new and old songs a plenty and even some you might be hearing for the first time.

Let us be the 159th person to tell you Happy New Year. As with most rock bands we are looking forward to the new year, new recordings, new shows, new videos, new photos, and everything else that is new like Jersey. We are hitting the studio to record our next release, working hard on some new material, and trying to line up some mid-west and west coast tours in the coming months. October 2008

We were recently contacted by an old friend about producing some music videos for Girl Loves Distortion's first release Earth Beings On Exhibit. So we have decided that the perfect solution would be to film some video at our Halloween Show at the Artery in Alexandria, VA. Florida-based filmmaker Josh Bolton from Drawing Lines (a surfing documentary that Steve did some of the score for) will be doing a video shoot of the bands live performance as well as additional various off-stage footage. So come out to the show and be in the first ever GLD video!

Busy, busy month for GLD. We are playing at The Black Cat on Wednesday, July 9, The Trash Bar in Brooklyn, NY on Friday July 11, The Velvet Lounge here in DC on the Saturday the 26th (Earth Beings on Exhibit CD release party!!!) and topping the month off with a Thursday show at Fort Reno in DC on the 31st. We will be playing at Artomatic on Saturday, June 7 from 6-7pm. Come check it out. And Wednesday, June 11th is our monthly acousitc night at Polly's Cafe at 14th and U NW. Performing will be Secrets Between Sailors and Earth Being on Exhibit.

Continuing our goal of playing non-traditional venues such as churches, movie theaters, and living rooms, we will be playing a show on Friday, June 20 in Alexandria, VA at Artery 717. We are open for business again (thanks but no thanks arsenic!), but our funding hasn't been fixed so quickly. We still need your donations to make this summer's concert schedule happen.

Steve will be playing an acoustic show at the Bach & Roll Night at Capitol City Brewing Company in Shirlington, VA on (Fat) Tuesday, February 5th from 9-11 p.m. along with Montgomery Fox. The show is acoustic and part of Cap City's new beer tapping that night. More information to come.

Girl Loves Distortion drummer Jenn Izza isn't the first woman to immortalize a tomboy past in song—in this case, the appropriately direct "The True Story of a Tomboy." Clocking in at just over seven minutes, Izza's crisp spoken-word stylings spare no detail as she channels the energy normally reserved for playing basketball and fighting boys to escape an ominous stranger. Think of it as a more artful John Walsh cautionary tale cloaked in a no-frills, cymbal-crashing homage to Kill Rock Stars' mid-'90s salad days. The trio doesn't have much to offer in the way of releases so far, streaming just a handful of demo tracks on its Web site and MySpace page. What its catalog lacks in abundance, however, it makes up for with raw, stripped-down urgency. Girl Loves Distortion performs with Shame Girl at 9 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1811 14th St. NW. $6. We are proud to (finally) announce the official title of our upcoming debut release: Earth Beings On Exhibit. We are in the final stages of mixing and then the packaging will start and hopefully by early next year we will be with CD in hand everywhere you might see us. Well, almost everywhere. In the meantime, catch us live at The Black Cat on Sunday, January 6th, 2008.

Once again, we are proud to announce a show at Polly's here in DC featuring the acoustic stylings of Montgomery (Papa) Fox, Jackie & The Treehorns (Steve from GLD), and Elqui (Chris from GLD with Tonchi from Organic Artists). The show will be Wednesday, September 12 at 8pm.

We just finished a 4-day stint in the studio with Hugh McElroy (Ruffian Records/Hand Fed Babies) and things went great. We are now in the process of mixing the tracks and hope to release all 8 songs we recorded this fall on a full-length CD.

Thanks to all of you that came out to Polly's on June 20th to catch the one and only performance of Elqui (Chris of GLD fame and TONCHI of Organic Artists), Jackie & The Treehorns (Steve from GLD acoustic stylie) and Montgomery (Papa) Fox—our beloved host of the evening. We had a great time breaking down music to its rawest form and plan to continue these "Events" in the future...

We finally have some recording dates set for the end of July with Hugh McElroy (Ruffian Records/Black Eyes) and are VERY excited about releasing our first full-length album. There is a title for the release, but we are not sure we want to reveal those kinda details quite yet. Always fun to keep the audience guessing a little. Just ask David Chase how much fun it is.

Like most bands, when not playing gigs, eating Taco Bell, or debating the affects of gorebal warming, we practice, practice, and practice. Though we prefer to call it "rehearsal" cause it sounds more, umm, you know, professional. Anyhow, we have been writing some new tunes and reworking some existing ones into sonic masses of aural vibrations that enter through your ear and literally eat your insides out cause it hurts so much to feel so good. Come check out some of these new tunes at our Warehouse gig on Sunday, May 20th. Come on, I'll record The Sopranos for you so you won't miss it. Jenn will be quizing the audience that night as well, so be prepared...

Side projects have always been a creative way to step outside the box of your current band to play music that you might not otherwise get involved in—and with people (mainly friends) that you want to perform with but might not have the time or desire to really take on a "real" band. Look out for some GLD side projects in the near future. Rumored names are "Jackie and the Treehorns" and "Heavy Luv." Something tells me these will sound nothing like GLD.

GLD have been in talks with a few DC producers (no names yet) in regards to working with the band on it's first full-length release. As well, we are pursuing a few local labels for distribution of the CD, which we hope to have out by the summer of 2007

We have confirmed that we will be playing on Friday, March 30th at the Warehouse in DC. More details about other bands, times, price, etc. soon on our Shows page. We are also at work filming a video for the song "Luminance (We Don't Dance)." New stickers are arriving shortly with our logo on them; we will be passing them out for free at upcoming shows.

January 2007
We are finalizing the mixes on a few of the songs we recorded at eSharp Music Studios in Washington, DC in the fall of 2006 with Rob Salerno from Vanishing Point Productions. We have posted them up on our site in hopes of giving you, the fan, an opportunity to hear what we sound like and where the mixes currently are. Plans are in the works for a full-length studio release as well as a video for the song "Luminance (We Don't Dance)" produced by The Worthy Brothers.

Jaded Bitterman—our beloved web producer—has been hard at work simplifying and relaunching our web site. Included in the new launch is a new flash-based photo gallery and mp3 player. Many thanks to JB for his hard work and efforts. Give that man a cracker. *Note: as of press time, rumours are abound that Jaded Bitterman is working on a new musical project called PIGEON. Jaded says the album will be released in late 2007 and will sound like "conceptual psychedlic death metal"—just what the world needs more of.

On Saturday, January 20th Girl Loves Distortion played with alt-country rock band The Black Hand at Felix (18th St. DC). While not a standard live band venue, the crowd was amazing and the sound was sufficient. Both bands played to a full-house and were well received. We are currently at work booking shows in February and March in DC at The Black Cat and Warehouse. Stay tuned for dates.
